Bethel AME Church will begin a year-long celebration in honor of its pastor, the Rev. Dr. Frank Madison Reid III.  “Honoring the Footprints of a Legend” is the theme of the anniversary that begins with the ministry of Bishop Sam Green of the 12th Episcopal District, 9:45 a.m., Oct. 13 at 1300 Druid Hill Ave.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake will present a proclamation proclaiming Oct. 13-20 “The Week of A Legend” in honor of Dr. Reid’s historic accomplishments since his arrival at Bethel in 1988.  Other leaders and figures expected to be in attendance include Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Comptroller Joan Pratt and many more.  

The celebration will include a monthly ministry experience that focuses on the dynamic aspect of Dr. Reid’s ministry. Other events will include: A Family Reunion where over 1,000 clergy and leaders who have come from under  Dr. Reid’s ministry will gather together to celebrate his ministry; “The New Generation Circle” honoring Dr. Reid’s footprint and impact in the lives of those 40 and under;  First Family month, Women’s month and a LEGENDS concert.
