After rumors swirled this week that megastar Beyoncé Knowles and her husband rapper Jay-Z were expecting their first child, the singer’s mom, Tina Knowles, disappointed legions of fans hoping for the family’s new addition.

“No, no. It’s not true,” Tina Knowles told Ellen DeGeneres during a show taping. “Not right now. I’m looking forward to it. With all the rumors by now I should have five or six grandchildren.”

US Weekly cited an unnamed source close to the couple who’d confirmed the pregnancy.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé married quietly among family and friends in 2008, leading to an onslaught of media and fan speculation about the status of their relationship.

The couple has not publicly confirmed or denied the pregnancy news, as the former Destiny’s Child star has been the subject of false pregnancy rumors in the past. In March, gossip website reported the “Single Ladies” crooner was pregnant, citing a “rock solid” source. Beyoncé’s publicist, however, denied the reports.

In other celebrity baby news, singer Alicia Keys and her husband, producer Swizz Beatz, recently welcomed their first child together, a boy named Egypt.
