Bowie State Bulldogs senior forward Bryon Westmorland scored a team-high 19 points but it wasn’t enough to help his team advance in the NCAA Division II men’s basketball tournament as the Bulldogs fell to West Liberty, 114-82, in the Atlantic Regional quarterfinals on March 16 at West Liberty, Va.

The Bulldogs fought their way to a three-point lead over West Liberty at the 12:29 mark of the first half. But that would be the only bright moment of the game for Bowie State as West Liberty quickly regained the lead and pushed its lead up to as many as 36 points.

Following Westmorland in scoring for Bowie State was senior forward Najee White with 13 points. But they simply couldn’t match West Liberty who had five different players score double digits, including senior guard Alex Falk, senior forward Chris Morrow, sophomore guard Shawn Dyer, sophomore guard C.J. Hester and junior guard Cedric Harris.

Bowie State concludes its season with a 16-14 record after beating Livingston College two weeks ago for the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA) title.
