There hasn’t been a better softball team in the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association during the past four years than the Bowie State Lady Bulldogs.
BSU has captured the CIAA Championship in each of the last three seasons, and after destroying the Saint Augustine Lady Falcons, 18-0, on April 12, it appears that the Lady Bulldogs are ready to claim their title as four-time defending champs.
The regular season-ending victory against Saint Augustine gave Bowie State a 20-20 overall record, 14-1 against the CIAA. They will now enter the CIAA Championship tournament as the No. 1 seed of the Eastern Division.
The Lady Bulldogs will rely on their best players to step up during the postseason, including junior third baseman Shalai Tabor, who was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week during the first week of April.?
Bowie State will face No. 4 seed Shaw University in the opening round of the CIAA tournament scheduled to begin this weekend at Petersburg, Va.
