Cardin: Mikulski Medal of Freedom Well-Deserved

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) issued the following statement celebrating the presentation of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.).
“The Presidential Medal of Freedom is ‘presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.’ As a social worker, Baltimore City Council woman, Congresswoman and U.S. Senator, Barbara Mikulski has done all of the above while fighting for Marylanders. This is a well-deserved distinction for a friend and colleague who I know always has put her constituents first. Senator Barb is inspirational, her tenacity and dedication to improving the lives of every American is worthy of this great honor.
“I send my most heartfelt congratulations to Senator Barb and look forward to seeing her on the floor of the Senate next week; shoulders square, lipstick on and ready to fight the good fight.”
