Cardin Statement on the Passing of Civil Rights Legend Julian Bond

BALTIMORE – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) released the following statement on the passing of Julian Bond: 

“Julian Bond embodied the best ideals of the American spirit. Mr. Bond dedicated his life to promoting equality and justice for all Americans.

“As a member of the Georgia state legislature, Southern Poverty Law Center and Chairman of the NAACP, headquartered in Baltimore, Julian Bond helped change America for the better.

“Julian Bond inspired me in public service and in the defense of civil liberties, and I take solace in knowing he inspired countless others to work towards a brighter future. I send my most sincere condolences to the Bond family and thank them for sharing such a wonderful man with the American people.”
