Now through Dec. 6, Baltimore City and Baltimore County students who submit an essay, poetry or artwork for the David B. Wright Memorial Foundation will be entered to win a holiday gift card. The organization, which helps crimes victims and their families overcome educational and health disparities, was founded by Shawnte Wright after her husband was murdered in 2009.

On Dec. 10, DBWMF will host a holiday program, from 6-8 p.m., and 8-10 p.m., for local families. The event will include essay/poetry readings, art, fitness dancing, light fare and announcement of the essay winners. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. For more information and to register for the program, visit davidbwrightmemorialfoundation.org. Local business sponsors and vendors interested in attending, call 443-438-5302.
