Winston-Salem State guard Kimani Hunt led his team with 15 points and nine rebounds, but the Rams fell short, 57-54, to West Virginia Wesleyan in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Tournament on March 10 in West Liberty, WV.

WV Wesleyan made two clutch free-throws to go up by three points with just 4.2 seconds left; Rams point guard Justin Glover attempted to tie the game with a desperation three-pointer, but his shot rimmed out, giving WV Wesleyan the close victory. Raymont McElroy led the winning team with 14 points.

Winston-Salem State finished their season with a 21-9 overall record; the Rams earned their 11th Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament Championship in school history, despite the first round exit from the NCAA D-II Tournament.
