Three local chapters of The Links, Inc. โ€“ Harbor City, Baltimore and Patapsco River, Md. โ€“ are hosting a voter registration certification training at 6 p.m. April 16 at Roland Park Elementary/Middle School in Baltimore.

Led by the Baltimore City Board of Elections, the training is designed to equip participants with the tools and certification needed to register voters in their communities.

“At a time when civic engagement and access to accurate information are critical, this effort is focused on building capacity at the community level by ensuring more residents are informed, trained, and able to support voter registration efforts across Baltimore,” said Chezia Cager, chair of National Trends and Services for the Harbor City (Md.) Chapter of The Links, Inc.

Voter registration drives have long been a means of shoring up democracy, particularly in empowering marginalized communities.

Cager invited anyone interested in that type of advocacy or community engagement to participate in the session. Participants will be trained and certified upon completion.

“The training is open to the public,โ€ she said, โ€œand we are encouraging individuals who are interested in civic engagement, community impact and voter education to attend.โ€
