Comptroller Franchot to Walk in Veterans Day Parade; Lay Wreath at Memorial

WHAT: On Veterans Day, Comptroller Franchot will join Leonardtown and St. Mary’s County commissioners in honoring local veterans by walking in the Annual Veterans Day Parade. Beginning on Fenwick Street, approximately 2,500 participants – including veterans, local dignitaries, military units, high school marching bands, youth groups, equestrians, floats and police, fire and emergency medical services personnel – will proceed through town. Afterward, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony to honor veterans at the Town Square, where the Comptroller will offer remarks. Leonardtown has held the traditional parade to pay tribute to those who served since the early 1970s. This year, the parade has earned its second national recognition as a Regional Site as designated by the Veterans Day National Committee.
