WASHINTON, D.C. — The D.C. Students Construction Trades Foundation held its fourth annual “Meet the Future” luncheon May 14 to benefit career and technical education programs in the Academy of Construction and Design at Cardozo Senior High School. The awards program spotlighted the foundation’s sponsors and recognized scholarship winners, alumni and graduating seniors.

Keynote speaker Brig. Gen. Clara Adams-Ender joined District Council Chairman Vincent Gray, Councilmember Jim Graham and Norman Dreyfuss of the IDI Group as featured speakers among many others.

Ivan Ango, Cardozo Senior High School’s valedictorian, was among the 11 academy seniors named to the academic honor roll this year. Graduating seniors Joshua Atkins and Sean Collins won the Norman Dreyfuss Scholarship award of $2,500 and $1,500 respectively.

Representatives from over 20 residential and commercial developers participated in the event and provided informal mentoring to more than 100 students enrolled in science, technology, engineering and math programs throughout the area.

The D.C. Students Construction Trades Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing pre-apprenticeship training in various trades for youth at Cardozo Senior High School and apprenticeship-related instruction for employees of professional contractors in the D.C. Apprenticeship Academy.
