For local residents who have acquired a host of parking tickets over time, the District Department of Motor Vehicles recently vowed to give you a break.

From Aug. 1 to January 2012, customers with outstanding parking, moving violations and photo enforcement tickets can pay their debts without penalty, as part of the DMV’s Ticket Amnesty Program. In addition to paying online, by mail or by phone, customers can also relieve their debts in-person at the Adjudication Services office.

Through the program, the District expects to collect nearly $6.3 million.
