The D.C. Stampede is scheduled to host its first Prison Letter Writing Night on Sept. 27 located on 1658 Columbia Rd., NW, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event collaborates with the Aging People in Prison Human Rights Campaign to show support and solidarity to seniors in prison who have been denied parole. The event will provide writing materials as well as instructions for making proper letters to inmates. The organization also urges those who come to pen letters to the governor and parole boards to spread awareness about individual cases as well as the period of mass incarceration from the 1960s to the 1980s.
