Delaware State University (DSU) softball team had its way with Howard University, beating the Lady Bison, 14-6 and 12-3, in two games played April 28 at Cosco Field in Clinton, Md.

Five different Delaware State players had at least four hits during the slugfest. Across both games, the Lady Hornets outhit Howard, 33-16.

Perhaps the most impressive batter for DSU was senior Jordan Reid, an Accokeek, Md. native who went 6-for-7 at the plate, and scored five runs with three RBI, along with three stolen bases.

Fellow Delaware State senior Casey Beighley scored four runs and went 5-for-8.

Other strong performers for Delaware State include freshman Bria Green and sophomore Stephanie Martello, who each went 4-for-7 and scored three runs. DSU Senior Breanne Parr hit two doubles and a home run in a 4-for-8 day at the plate.

Delaware State advanced to 21-16-1 overall and 11-3 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), while Howard fell to 9-31 overall, 7-10 against the MEAC.

Both teams will participate in the MEAC Championship Tournament scheduled for May 10.
