Metropolitan homicide detectives are currently investigating a couple of fatal shootings that took place in Southwest and Northeast, D.C.

First on, Nov. 7, a man was fatally shot on Galveston Place in Southwest.

At around 4 a.m. police responded to reports of shooting at a residence on Galveston. Police arrived to the scene to find two male gunshot victims. The first victim, 37 year-old Eugene Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene and was immediately transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s office, according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The second victim, who is not yet identified, was transported to a local hospital to treat non-life threatening injuries.

The next day, a man was shot on the 1500 Block of Benning Road Northeast, where officers from the Fifth District reported at aroun 9:31 a.m. to reports of a stabbing. There, police found 38-year-old Jelani Mohammed suffering from a stab wound, according to a statement released by MPD.

“After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead,” MPD wrote in a statement.

Police have not reported any suspects or motives for the shooting of these men according to a statement released by the MPD.

Police are currently offering a reward of $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and convictions of those responsible for homicides in the District. According to D.C. Witness there have been 148 homicides in the District this year, 37 more deaths than this time in 2017, when there were 111.
