Two people are dead and two wounded during an early morning quadruple shooting in a south Baltimore neighborhood, following a string of violence that has occurred in the city.

Police say on Aug. 20, around 5:47 a.m. they responded to the 1200 block of S. Carey Street for the report of a neighborhood disturbance. When they arrived on the scene they found 22-year-old Meghan Kerrigan and her boyfriend William Monroe dead, gunned down in their own home.

“The two victims were pronounced dead on the scene,” Det. Brandon Echevarria told the AFRO. “The two other victims were transported and treated at an area hospital-one in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.”

“The suspected shooter is now in custody,” Echevarria said.

According to police, 35-year-old Melville Mason, shot all victims inside the row home on S. Carey Street. Echevarria said there was an infant inside, however the infant was not injured and was returned to family members.

As of Aug. 20, there have been 145 homicides compared to 134 this time last year. For non-fatal incidents, there have been 274 compared to this time last year.

Although the details about the shooting have yet to be released, police said this was “not a random act.”
