The morning was as lovely and welcoming as the volunteers who greeted and pumped gas for hundreds of drivers and passengers this Saturday morning.

One thousand people were the surprise recipients of a pre-Easter gas give away sponsored by Alfred Street Baptist Church, Alexandria VA. The church gave away $50 gifts to fill their gas tanks at Royal Farms stores in Forestville and Camp Springs MD and Alexandria VA in advance of Easter Sunday.

“This is the kind of ministry Jesus engaged in with every day people so we thought with times being as perilous as they are, we should be reaching people where they need it too,” said Howard-John Wesley Sr. Pastor.

“This will help me get through the rest of the month,” said Nelson Pinkard, a retiree from District Heights, Maryland.
