Governor Larry Hogan Participates in Ribbon-Cutting for Love’s Travel Stops

National Travel Stop Company Opens First Location in Maryland, Creates 70 Jobs

ANNAPOLIS, MD – As part of a four-day visit to Western Maryland, Governor Larry Hogan today joined with City of Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim, the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, and executives from Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores at a ribbon-cutting for the company’s first location in Maryland. The Oklahoma City-based national travel stop company opened a 10,000 square-foot facility in Cumberland along Interstate 68 for professional drivers, visitors, and residents. The facility will create 70 new jobs in Allegany County.

“Love’s Travel Stops is a great addition to the Western Maryland business community and we are proud to welcome this growing company to Maryland,” said Governor Hogan. “The outstanding services offered by Love’s will be a tremendous benefit for the thousands of professional drivers, visitors, and residents who travel the I-68 route every day.”

“With a growing community and proximity to one of Maryland’s busiest interstates, Cumberland is an ideal location for Love’s,” said Tom Love, founder and executive chairman of Love’s Travel Stops. “We look forward to providing the ‘Clean Places, Friendly Faces’ Love’s is known for to Maryland residents and professional drivers.”

“The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome this strong national company to Allegany County,” said Stu Czapski, executive director of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce. “We recognize the importance of their investment in our community and their ability to complement an important segment of our economy. Love’s support of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is greatly appreciated.”

The Love’s facility will be open 24 hours and feature Subway and McDonald’s restaurants, gourmet coffee and snacks, merchandise, name-brand electronics, and more. Professional drivers can make use of seven showers, 90 truck parking spaces and a Love’s Truck Tire Care Center, which offers roadside assistance, tire care, and light mechanical services.

Founded in 1964, Love’s is family-owned and operated, has more than 360 locations in 40 states and 12,000 employees. The company is currently ranked 14th on the Forbes listing of America’s largest private companies.
