A Connecticut man allegedly interrupted his own haircut to assault another patron at a barbershop on March 8.

Police said David C. Davis, 21, of New Haven, Conn. was getting his hair cut in Stamford, Conn. when he allegedly slashed another customer with a pair of scissors.

According to The Stamford Advocate, Davis was arrested shortly after the incident at a nearby apartment. Officers took him into custody upon realizing he was wanted for failing to appear in court on another charge.

The victim was taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment for his injuries, which police said are non-life threatening cuts to his upper back. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the victim approached Davis aggressively and Davis reacted by grabbing the scissors to protect himself.

Since Davis’ mug shot hit the web, showing him sporting half of an Afro in mid-trim, the story has taken on a life of its own, gaining notoriety from New England to Oceania.

A headline in The Sydney Morning Herald read “Halfro mug: clipped, slashed and nicked by the fuzz” while another in The New Zealand Herald read “A case of cut and run.”

Davis is being held on $5,000 bond and is to appear in court on the charge March 22, according to the Advocate.
