Fuquay-Varina, N.C. – Hampton and Morgan State are atop the Boxtorow.com HBCU Division I national basketball power ranking poll, while Xavier (La.) remains on top in the Division II/NAIA poll.

Hampton and Morgan State received an equal amount of first and second place votes to tie for the No. 1 spot. Bethune-Cookman (8-8) moves up one spot from last week to No. 3 and remains undefeated in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. BCC is also one of the hottest teams having reeled off five-straight victories. Jackson State went 1-1 last week and dropped to No. 4, while Tennessee State remained No. 5.

In the Division II/NAIA top 10 poll, Xavier (La.) received all but one first place vote to keep the top spot. Winston-Salem State has won five of its last six and moved up one spot from last week to No. 2. Bowie State received the other first place vote and is No. 3. Tougaloo moved up two spots to No. 4, while Shaw dropped three spots to No. 5. Of the five remaining teams, West Virginia State and Cheyney State made the most significant jumps, the Yellow Jackets moving up two spots to No. 6, while the Wolves moved up three spots to No. 7. Kentucky State is tied with Cheyney at No. 7 followed by Elizabeth City State at No.9 and Texas College at No. 10.
