The Howard University Bison lost their third straight game, falling 93-72 to Oregon State (OSU) on Dec. 15 at Gill Coliseum in Corvalis, Ore.

The Bison played without their leading scorer, junior Calvin Thompson, who was sidelined with a groin injury. The absence of Thompson’s scoring ability was felt as Howard failed to match the Oregon State’s stellar shooting.

Sophomore Ahman Starks led four different Oregon State players who achieved double-figures in points. Starks scored a game-high 22 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range. OSU junior Angus Brandt followed with 21 points, while sophomore Roberto Nelson added 20 points off the bench and junior Jared Cunningham scored 10 points.

Howard freshman Prince Okorah attempted to fill Thompson’s void, scoring 13 points, while freshman Brandon Ford also added 13 points to the Bison’s total. But they simply didn’t have enough firepower to keep up with OSU.

Howard fell to 3-8 overall, while Oregon State advanced to 8-2. The Bison will return to action Dec. 19 to take on Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
