Howard University’s softball team scored only one run in the game, but that’s all they would need as the Lady Bison beat Morgan State, 1-0, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North Division game on April 20 in Baltimore, Md.
Howard’s lone score came in the first inning as senior centerfielder Lorae Robinson ran in from third base on a passed ball during senior outfielder Andascha Moore-Pryor’s at-bat. With a 1-0 lead, Howard senior pitcher Samantha Gatson went on to shut out Morgan State, allowing just one hit and three walks in seven innings of play.
This marked Morgan State’s seventh straight loss, but according to Morgan State Media Relations, the Lady Bears are still mathematically alive to qualify for the MEAC softball championship tournament scheduled in May.
Howard (8-31 overall, 5-5 MEAC) will face MEAC opponent Delaware State on April 28 in Clinton, Md. while Morgan State (7-20 overall, 1-9 MEAC) will take on University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on April 28 in Baltimore, Md.
