Howard University Celebrates 150th Homecoming

(October 21, 2017) Howard University is celebrating 150 years of homecoming traditions.

Since Monday, Oct. 16, with the Homecoming Kickoff Rally, to this Oct. 22’s Alumni Brunch and Fashion Show and several events in between, current and former students of the prestigious historically Black universitywill be coming together for the annual festivities.

Saturday, Oct. 21 is the annual Homecoming Parade, with La La Anthony, Howard alumna, host, actress, producer, author and entrepreneur, serving as grand marshall, kicking off the procession at 10 a.m.

“Howard has always been a significant part of who I am, from adolescence to my professional adult life… I continue to carry all the amazing lessons and experiences with me.  This year, being the 150th Howard Homecoming, it feels great to come back and I am extremely honored to serve as Grand Marshall,” La La Anthony said according to Newsroom.Howard.edu.

After the parade, attendees can head to Greene Stadium for the Howard Bisons’ game against the Morgan State Bears. Tickets are required for the game and can be purchased using TicketMaster.com.

Saturday nights 9p.m.  is the Presidential Soiree at the W Hotel. This is also a ticketed event and tickets can be purchased by going to Howard’s Homecoming page on https://www2.howard.edu/events/homecoming.

At 11 a.m. Sunday morning, Howard will celebrate it sesquicentennial year with a Chapel Service at Cramton Auditorium before the Alumni Brunch and Fashion Show at the Washington Hilton Hotel, starting at noon.
