Howard University Homecoming 2013
The nation’s capital will turn Bison Blue when Howard University holds iats Homecoming activities Oct. 22-27, with a star-studded cast of alumni returning to lead the festivities.
Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson (B.A. ‘95) and actor Lance Gross (B.F.A. ‘04) will team up as grand marshals of Homecoming, while comedian Marlon Wayans, who began his college career at Howard, will serve as the grand ambassador.
“Thank you, Howard, for bringing me home again,” said Henson, star of the CBS drama “Person of Interest.”
Howard University’s Homecoming is a celebration of the institution’s rich history and the community. Each year, alumni, faculty, students, family, friends, and the surrounding community journey faithfully to the Capstone to reminisce and renew their connection in celebration of Howard’s legacy.
“As a proud alumnus, I am honored to be a part of Howard’s Homecoming,” said Gross, who recently starred in the Tyler Perry movie Temptation. “Each year I return to the campus, the pride and love I feel for HU grows even stronger.”
The theme of this year’s celebration: “Epic: The Saga Continues” will include a mix of events including the step show and new events such as the Entertainment Power Summit.
Wayans said he is excited about getting back on campus, “I’m happy to return to the Mecca and proudly participate in the Howard events. It’s gonna be a blast!”
