iBlack, a community of Black professionals in the DC area, is looking for volunteers to help provide furniture and other home items to families moving out of shelters or otherwise living without basic necessities. The organization is working with A Wider Circle’s Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program to assist families throughout Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. The program will also provide emergency response for victims of fires or crime, and for new mothers unable to bring children home due to insufficient resources and wellness baskets for furniture recipients including healthy snacks and information such as healthy eating, relaxation techniques, creativity exercises, and better sleep tips. The event will start at the A Wider Circle, 9159 Brookville Road t 9 a.m. on Jan. 9. There is no need to bring any supplies.
