In honor of The Most Rev. George Augustus Stallings Jr., pastor, archbishop and founder of Imani Temple, the church will host several events celebrating his birthday, including a luncheon on March 19 and a high mass on March 20.

The luncheon features keynote speaker, the Rev. Levy Daughtery, while Bishop Larry Lloyd is the guest homilist at the founder’s mass.

Stallings attended St. Pius X Seminary and North American College in Rome, Italy. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1974 and previously worked as pastor at St. Teresa of Avila and director of evangelism for the archdiocese of Washington.

In 1989, he founded the African American Catholic Congregation and its Imani Temples.
