Guard Kobe Bryant led the way with 20 points in 20 minutes played as the U.S. national men’s basketball team ripped Australia, 119-86, to reach the semifinals of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

It wasn’t very difficult for USA to jump out to a comfortable lead as they led, 56-42 at halftime. Forward LeBron James set the tempo early for the Americans, playing physical defense while also finding several open teammates for fast-break points on offense. James finished with 11 points along with 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

James set up easy shots for Bryant to knock down, especially during the third quarter as the Americans stretched their lead over the Australians. Forward Carmelo Anthony also benefited from James’ facilitating, as he finished with 17 points. Guard Deron Williams added 18 points to Team USA’s total, while Forward Kevin Durant followed up with 14 points.

Team USA also hurt Australia on the defensive end, forcing 18 turnovers, 13 of which came from steals.

Australia was led by Patrick Mills with 26 points.

Team USA will advance on to face Argentina in the semifinals on Aug. 10.
