“Is this the little girl I carried? Is this the little boy at play? I don’t remember growing older when did they. When did she get to be a beauty? When did he grow to be so tall? Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small? Sunrise, sunset sunrise, sunset swiftly flow the days.

“I can see clearly now” that “time waits for no man” as I, gracefully age and witness friends’ children and grandchildren become fine men and women.

“We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly”. Sam Keen

When Shauna introduced me to her fiancé during Christmas dinner at her Uncle Danny & Aunt Delle’s house, an image of Shauna as a child flashed before me. The vision of loveliness walking “down the aisle” to meet her groom was no longer “daddy’s little girl.”

“Come and go with me to my Father’s house where there’s joy” It was reminiscent of a Sunday morning service, entering the majestic edifice of New Psalmist to the harmonious sounds of the Praise and Worship team greeting the wedding guests with songs of thanksgivings as we waited for Shauna Henson and Albert Prater to “jump the broom.”

“A happy marriage has in it all the pleasures of a friendship, all the enjoyments of sense and reason, and indeed, all the sweets of life.” Joseph Addison

“Share my love” The elegant reception in the atrium of the church provided a perfect setting for the groom’s eloquent thanks to the guests for their love and support.

“Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words.” Plautus

“Some enchanted evening,” describes the marriage and reception of Angelina Resae and Kevin Vernard at the Running Hare Vineyard in Prince Frederick, Maryland. The enchanting vineyards offered a fairytale setting while guests enjoyed the wines of the vineyards. The celestial scenery became magical as nightfall descended on the vineyards. “Let’s get this party started” The newlywed’s first dance was a choreographer’s dream come true as Angelina and Kevin took the dance floor displaying the results of their dance lessons. The guests joined them until “the wobble” came on. The hottest line dance this year appeared to be a challenge to the guests on the dance floor until Walter showed everyone the easy dance steps. The rest of the evening, the wobble was the most requested song.

“Wobble baby, wobble baby, wobble baby, wobble (4times) get in there, yeah, yeah (4times) hey big girl make em’ back it up, make em’ back it up 4 times.

This should get you started. With an attitude, start rocking 4 times to the right, 4 times to the left with your hands up, 4 times then back it up and keep wobbling on four. Follow the other dancers and you are wobbling. Yeah! Yeah!

“Condemn none, if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.” Swami Vivekananda

Under a brilliant sky, members of the Big Sisters Club of Baltimore and invited guests in their pretty hats gathered at the Ellicott City home of President Dr. Charlene Cooper Boston for their annual Spring Social Luncheon, hosted by members Flora Gilchrist Johnson, Veronica Dixon and Charlene. The colorful table settings with white linen cloths and spring flowers established the tone for the afternoon.

Instead of burying my glasses in the recesses of my purse, I need to wear them. I didn’t recognize my friend Merle Stanley who was there to provide the entertainment.

“Jazzy lady” Merle Stanley, winner of the Maryland Senior Idol 2007, stylishly dressed in pink silk, with her gold microphone, kept the guests “spellbound” performing songs like, Don’t get around much anymore, Misty and Memories.

Merle is a fantastic entertainer. You can contact Merle Jewett Stanley at 410-371-7587 or emjay.stanley@gmail.com
