Local politicians, including former Mayors Marion Barry and Anthony Williams, Mayor-elect Vincent Gray, Chairman for the Committee on Libraries, Parks and Recreation and Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr., Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette Alexander and At-Large Councilman Kwame Brown, joined tennis celebrity Zina Garrison, area youth and their families for the 12th Annual Heart to Hart Tennis Experience on Nov. 6. The event took place at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.

“This is a special occasion for all of us as it is a reminder of how we started our efforts to raise money for the children of the District of Columbia over 10 years ago,” said Cora Masters Barry, founder and CEO of The Recreation Wish List Committee. “Through Heart to Hart we are able to ‘pay it forward’ through the funding and support we receive from local politicians and the community who believe in our good work. Most importantly we have a fantastic day of friendly competition and a fun way to raise the monies that continue to support our children of the District of Columbia.”

Council Chairman-elect Kwame Brown was the match winner.
