Three Washington, D.C., students from Emery L. Fears Boys Academy have been chosen to participate in the Morehouse College 2010 Coca-Cola Pre-College Leadership Program in Atlanta, June 19-25.

Colin B. Johnson Jr., a sophomore, and Kevin D. Dancy and Omari M. Williams, both juniors, were selected based on their academic achievements and response to essay questions.

The program, presented by the Leadership Center at Morehouse College, is extremely competitive, and only 30 students from across the country were selected.

A committee of Morehouse faculty and administrators reviewed all applications for the week-long leadership program.

The 2010 Coca-Cola Leadership Program was created to help young men develop behaviors necessary for success as adults. VisionQuest Association, a national youth service organization, designed the curriculum to focus on personal and interpersonal leadership development.

The Coca-Cola Foundation is providing financial support for the program.

The all-male Morehouse College has graduated many notable leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr., Nobel Peace Prize laureate and civil rights leader; David Satcher, U.S. Surgeon General and Maynard Jackson, first African-American mayor of Atlanta.
