As part of their mission to enhance the quality of life in the District of Columbia through community service and sisterhood during the organization’s observance of Finer Womanhood during Women’s History Month, the Beta Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority recently held a community awareness and awards program at the Catholic University of America’s Caldwell Auditorium in Washington, D.C. The theme of this year’s event was, “A Year of Restoration – Restoring Our Communities through Health, Wellness and Entrepreneurship.”
This year’s honorees included Dr. Mayde Henson, president/CEO of Greater DC Cares as “Woman of the Year” and “Organization of the Year” KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit that creates playgrounds in poor neighborhoods.
