Franchot to Convene Economic Advisory Forum with Industry Leaders in Annapolis
As BRE Chairman, Comptroller to Take Pulse of Maryland’s Economy
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
Treasurer Nancy Kopp
Secretary of Budget and Management David Brinkley
Business and industry leaders
WHAT: As Chairman of the Board of Revenue Estimates (BRE), Comptroller Franchot will convene an Economic Advisory Forum on Friday, November 18 to gather insights and perspectives of leaders in key business and industry sectors of Maryland’s economy.
Joining the Comptroller will be fellow board members Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp, Secretary of Budget and Management David Brinkley, along with BRE Director Andrew Schaufele, who serves as Executive Secretary to the Board. Economic Advisory Forums are part of the Comptroller’s emphasis as Chairman to include the assessments of the private sector in the revenue estimating process. The last such forum was held in 2014.
Panelists will represent banking and financial services, cyber security and technology, real estate, trade, engineering, retail and restaurants — sectors that provide geographic and industry diversity to best capture what is happening throughout Maryland’s economy. The panelists will offer testimony on what they currently are seeing, hearing and expecting at their store counters and businesses. The BRE will take these viewpoints into account before its December revenue forecast.
