Comptroller Franchot to Present 2016 Silver Hammer Award to Frederick County School
Oakdale Middle School earned superior maintenance rating

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot on Thursday will present the 2016 Silver Hammer Award for Frederick County to Oakdale Middle School, located in Ijamsville. The school was nominated because of its excellent school maintenance record, earning a “superior” rating of 98 percent during its last state inspection. Built in 2002, Oakdale Middle was praised for its overall maintenance, comparable to that of a newly constructed facility.
The Silver Hammer Award was established in 2010 in recognition of schools that demonstrate sound fiscal management and commitment to well-maintained buildings. Comptroller Franchot visits schools throughout the state as part of his role as a member of the Board of Public Works, which approves public school construction funding.
