Comptroller Franchot to Spend Day Visiting Cecil County Schools and Businesses
– Comptroller to Present Md. Masters Awards to Three Talented Cecil County Students –

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present his Maryland Masters Award to three creative Cecil County student artists Thursday morning. They are Jessica Reed, a second grader at Bay View Elementary School, North East, for her seascape featuring a pirate ship; Elizabeth Betts, an eighth grader at Rising Sun Middle School, for her cubism painting; and Anna Prodoehl, a senior at Rising Sun High School, North East, for her still life photograph “Time is Money.”
The Comptroller’s next stop will be Chesapeake Service Center in Elkton, where he will present a proclamation to owner Will Cain, for the business’ commitment to providing quality service to its Elkton customers. In North East, he will present a proclamation to John Crothers, owner of Benjamin Lumber & Fuel, and to members of his family for the business’ longevity and role in local history. Comptroller Franchot will end his day at Bay View Elementary School in North East. More than 50 years old, the school is an excellent example of how a well-maintained school can have a positive impact on educational outcomes. It’s known for having an exceptional on-site staff and administrators who take great care of the facility.
