Comptroller Franchot to Visit New Town High School,
Honor Two Area Businesses
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will visit New Town High School Tuesday to speak to American Government classes about the state budget process, his role and responsibilities as Comptroller and his view of Maryland’s financial standing. The discussion provides students with the opportunity to hear directly from an elected official who plays a significant role in the budget process.
Afterward, the Comptroller will stop by The Gourmet Girls to present a proclamation to owners Lisa Honick and Barbara Collurafici for their commitment to the local community. Gourmet Girls is a complete catering enterprise and popular lunch destination, serving specialty sandwiches, deli items, homemade soups, salads and bakery items.
The Comptroller will present a second proclamation to Valley Inn owner Ted Bauer in honor of the establishment’s success. Valley Inn has operated as a public inn, tavern or restaurant almost continuously since 1832.
