Comptroller to Present Proclamation to Business Leader of the Year at Loyola U.   

-Comptroller to Recognize Sister Helen Amos at Fete Honoring Her Work-

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation to Sister Helen Amos, RMS, recognizing her leadership as Loyola University’s Sellinger School of Business and Management Business Leader of the Year at a reception Thursday evening at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore. Sister Helen is executive chairman of the board of trustees of Mercy Health Services.

She was selected by the Sellinger School for her commitment to innovations in business and service to the community throughout her 30-year career. Mercy Health Services is the eighth largest private-sector employer in the Baltimore region with 4,800 employees and generating $600 million in annual revenues from a network of primary care and specialist physicians.

Sister Helen has served as executive chairman since 1999 and has been a member of the board of directors since 1980. She was president and CEO from 1992-1999. During her tenure, she and the leadership team  pioneered numerous ground-breaking programs and initiatives, including the construction of the Mary Catherine Bunting Center – a new $400-plus million, 20-story hospital – and the creation of the Center for Women’s Health and Medicine and flagship programs in gynecology, oncology and breast cancer diagnosis.
