Comptroller to Speak at American Legion Post 70; Honor Centenarians at Dixon House

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will speak at a special 9-11 ceremony at American Legion Post 70 Monday to remember the victims of that somber day in our nation’s history as well as the sacrifices of those who served our country. He will be joined in giving remarks by the post’s 75th Commander Dave Andrew, Easton Mayor Robert Willey, Talbot County Sheriff Dallas Pope and Easton Volunteer Fire Department Chief Sonny Jones, who will read a special 9-11 poem. Lt. Greg Wright, head of the Patrol Division of the Easton Police Department, will represent law enforcement. Following the ceremony, Comptroller Franchot will tour the American Legion post and meet with members.

                        The Comptroller then will visit the Dixon House, an assisted living center in Easton that has served the community for 101 years, and present a proclamation to Executive Director Linda Elben recognizing the home’s longevity and service to the community. Comptroller Franchot also will honor the longevity of two residents — Milton Agreen, who will turn 105 on Monday, and Oneita McCall, who will be 104 on Sept. 17. Each will receive a proclamation and a Comptroller’s Medallion. There will be a birthday celebration after the presentation.
