Comptroller To Spend Day in Prince George’s County Visiting Office, School, Eatery and Glenarden

-Comptroller Continues Series of School Visits To Evaluate Funding Needs –

WHO:             Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:          Comptroller Franchot will begin his day Tuesday visiting his agency’s Upper Marlboro Branch Office, where he will speak with agency employees and taxpayers taking advantage of free tax assistance during this busy and important tax filing season.

The Comptroller will then tour Fairmont Heights High School in Capitol Heights. A replacement school is being built a few miles from the current school which opened in 1950. The project is slated to receive about $10.5 million in state funding.

Afterward, Comptroller Franchot will present a proclamation to the restaurant Just Jerk — a fixture in the Lanham-Seabook community since 2006. The Comptroller will recognize owners Phil Ajaj and Pierre Stone for the success of their Jamaican food establishment and contributions to the business community.

                         The Comptroller will end his tour in the county with a stop in Glenarden to present a proclamation for the city’s contributions to the State of Maryland. The Comptroller also will tour the recently opened Veterans Memorial Park there. As a member of the Board of Public Works, Comptroller Franchot voted to allocate $208,250 for the park.
