Comptroller to Spend Day Visiting Baltimore County School, Fire Company and Restaurants
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: The Comptroller will begin today visiting students and getting a tour of Middleborough Elementary School. In FY2014, the school received $1.1 million to air-condition the building as well as $655,000 for a new roof. Located in southeast Baltimore County, the school first opened its doors in 1959. There are 384 students and 45 staff members.
The Comptroller then will visit the Middleborough Volunteer Fire Company to present a proclamation to Captain Shaun Freund to recognize the department for its dedication and service to the community. Founded in 1943, MVFC serves Middleborough, Essex, Middlesex, Hopewellpoint, and Waterview with fire protection and EMS services.
The Comptroller will head over to JAD’s (John and Diane’s) Restaurant and Caddy Shack Lounge, where he will present a proclamation to John and Diane Lake and their staff for their success and contribution to the community. The business opened in Maryland in 1989.
Winding up his day, the Comptroller will stop by Ikaros Restaurant to present a proclamation to Xenos Kohilas on behalf of the Kohilas family for their long-time success. A fixture in the Greek community at the same location since 1969, IKAROS is an acclaimed restaurant serving hearty portions of classic Greek cuisine in a family-oriented, relaxed atmosphere.
