Local and state officials
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will begin his day on Wednesday with a tour of the Pascal Senior Center – home to an active community of older adults. The center, founded 35 years ago, was named after Robert “Bob” A. Pascal, who served as Anne Arundel County executive from 1975 to 1982. The center offers free memberships to individuals 55 or older who are active, self-sufficient and independent.
The Comptroller then will head over to the Bank of Glen Burnie to present a proclamation to President and CEO Michael Livingston recognizing the bank’s 65 years of service to the community, which will be observed in August. He also will present a Comptroller’s Medallion to Mr. Livingston for making a difference in the business community. Mr. Livingston plays a key role in local economic development and serves as chairman of the Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation. He also serves as chairman of the Glen Burnie Town Center Advisory Committee, and in 2006, he reorganized the Chesapeake Innovation Center.
The Comptroller’s final stop will be at the Grill at Quarterfield Station, where he will present a proclamation to owner Bill Chalmers and general manager Joe Tusa noting the restaurant’s fare and contributions to the community. The Grill – a centerpiece in the Glen Burnie community for more than a decade — offers American-styled grilling and seafood with fresh seasonal ingredients.
