Franchot to Present Proclamations to Prince George’s Co. School, Fire Co. and Business
-Comptroller to Recognize Program that Teaches Food Service Skills –
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: On Tuesday morning, Comptroller Franchot will visit Bowie High School, where he will present a proclamation to the ProStart Program, a two-year course to bring together students and restaurant owners and chefs to develop youthful skills and talents into what the local industry needs in food service leaders.
The Comptroller then will visit Glenn Dale Volunteer Fire Association, where he will present a proclamation to Vice President Laura Woods recognizing the association’s 85 years of commitment and service to the community. The fire association, established in 1929, has approximately 70 members.
Heading to Hyattsville, the Comptroller will present a proclamation to Kelem and Adamu Lemu, owners of Shagga Coffee and Restaurant. Shagga – an Amharic word for “good” and “beautiful” in the official language of Ethiopia – reflects how the owners view the location of the neighborhood restaurant. In 2013, Shagga’s fare was recognized in the Washington Post as the “40 dishes Washingtonians shouldn’t live without.”
