Cardin in Caroline County for Listening Session, Tours of Local Small Business and School-based Wellness Center
Monday, June 5, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin will participate in multiple events in Federalsburg, Md., that underscore the important connections between federal policies and Eastern Shore communities.

Monday, June 5 at 9:15 AM, Senator Cardin will meet with participants in citizenship and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at the Federalsburg Judy Center. The senator will meet with Matthew Peters, Judy Center Partner and Director of the Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center, and discuss issues of particular concern to local immigrant communities. The senator also will extend his appreciation to the staff, faculty and students working together to successfully navigate the path toward citizenship.

Monday, June 5 at 10:00 AM, Senator Cardin will take his โMade in MDโ jobs tour, which highlights the diversity of Maryland-made products and the Marylanders who produce them, to Crystal Steel Fabricators, a family-run company that aims to use its engineering skills and technological understanding to build relationships of trust. The senator will tour the extensive campus, which can fabricate 20,000 tons of structural steel per year. After the tour, the senator will meet with representatives from other Federalsburg manufacturers and Chesapeake College, as well as Caroline County Public Schools CTE coordinators, to discuss workforce training and development.

Monday, June 5 at 11:30 AM, Senator Cardin will tour the Choptank Community Health Systemโs school-based wellness center at Federalsburg Elementary School and join regional public health leaders for a discussion examining the crippling impact that federal budget cuts would have on providing quality, accessible health care throughout Maryland.

Monday, June 5 at 12:30 PM, Senator Cardin will host a listening session with the Caroline County commissioners and town officials from Denton, Ridgely, Greensboro, Preston, Federalsburg, Marydel, Henderson, Templeville, Hillsboro and Goldsboro. Part of the โListenInMDโ tour, which aims to ensure that all Marylanders have regular opportunities to discuss key issues directly with the senator, the open discussion will cover a range of issues and pay particular attention to understanding and identifying solutions to the statewide opioid addiction epidemic.
