Morgan State senior DeWayne Jackson scored 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds as the Bears edged North Carolina A&T, 55-52, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game on Jan. 26 in Greensboro, N.C.

The lead exchanged hands several times throughout the game, with the score tied at 29 at the break. Morgan regained the lead after halftime, but the Aggies claimed a slight edge in the final minute of the game.

That’s when Morgan junior guard Anthony Hubbard scored a layup on a fast break with 34 seconds to give the Bears their final lead. Hubbard finished with 10 points.

Jackson’s 14 points advanced him to 10th on Morgan State’s all-time leading scorer list. He now has 1,392 career points, surpassing Lee Cornish, who scored 1,390 points from 1963 to 1966.

Bears redshirt junior center Ian Chiles also scored a double-double of 14 points with 10 rebounds.

North Carolina A&T senior forward Adrian Powell led the Aggies with 12 points, and senior guard Jean Louisme followed with 10. Junior guard Lamont Middleton scored 8 points and six boards for the Aggies.

Morgan State will travel to Durham, N.C. to face North Carolina Central on Jan. 28.
