The Morgan State Bears maintained their perfect record against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference competition, routing the Florida A&M Rattlers, 94-68, on February 7 at Hill Field House in Baltimore.

The lopsided victory improved MSU to 9-0 in the MEAC, and also secured their place amongst the top-20 Mid-Major programs in the nation.

Florida A&M simply couldn’t find an answer for Morgan star guard Reggie Holmes, who scored 25 points, including 17 in the second half. The senior, who went to St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, is currently ranked amongst the top five scorers in the country.

But Holmes wasn’t the only Morgan State player on fire. Freshman sensation DeWayne Jackson also scored 25 points on 8 of 13 shooting, including 6 for 9 from three-point range. The Bowie, Md. native was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season thanks to his stellar performance.

MSU star Kevin Thompson, ranked fourth in the nation in rebounding, recorded his 15th double-double of the season with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, along with two blocked shots. He was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions, while teammate Sean Thomas posted a career-high 11 assists.

While Morgan shot 54.8 percent in the game, and 58.6 percent during the second half, A&M barely shot 34 percent in the second half, making only 10 of 26 shots from the field.

MSU will seek its 11th consecutive win when they take on Winston-Salem State University on February 13 at Hill Field House.
