The Morgan State Bears remained without a win this season after falling to the Ohio University Bobcats, 61-53, at the OU Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio on Dec. 3.

The Bears are now 0-7 this season.

Morgan State played a tough game against Ohio, trailing by only two points with only three minutes remaining in the game. MSU senior point guard Larry Bastfield made 1-of-2 free throws to cut the score to 54-52 late in the fourth quarter. But Bears junior forward DeWayne Jackson missed a three-pointer that led to a fast break by Ohio, ultimately sparking a scoring run that put the game out of reach for Morgan.

Jackson led Morgan with 15 points while senior center Kevin Thompson followed with his second double-double of the season, totaling 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Redshirt junior Walter Offutt led the Bobcats with a game-high 17 points, while junior Ivo Baltic followed with 14 points. Sophomore Nick Kellogg added 10 points off the bench, including all three of Ohio’s three-pointers. Ohio junior D.J Cooper recorded a game-high seven assists.

MSU shot 38.8 percent, making 19-of-49 shots from the field, and struggled from three-point land, making just 1-of-15 shots from behind the arc. The Bears made 14-of-23 shots (60.9 percent) from the free throw line. Ohio didn’t shoot much better, making 19-of-52 shots (36.5 percent), but was much more efficient shooting from the free-throw line, making 20-0f-28 shots from the charity stripe.

The Bears will see their next action on Dec. 14 when they take on the UMBC Retrievers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the RAC Arena at UMBC.
