The mother of NBA Hall of Famer and sports analyst Charles Barkley died at her home in Alabama on June 19.
Jefferson County, Ala. authorities said Charcey Glenn died from kidney failure, according to NBA.com.
Glenn was the chair of the Board of Directors of the Leeds Water Works, and passed along her charitable traits to Barkley. Just before his mother passed, Barkley donated $3 million between the Wounded Warrior Project, Morehouse College in Atlanta and Auburn University.
Barkley was scheduled to participate in NBA star Dirk Nowitzki’s Heroes Special Olympics All-Star Baseball Game in Frisco, Texas on June 27, but had to withdraw due to his mother’s funeral.
In addition to her service with the Leeds Water Works, Glenn was also an active contributor to the Leeds, Ala. community in other capacities.
