“Drumline” star Nick Cannon is being treated for kidney problems. The 31-year- old TV and movie star was admitted to an Aspen, Colo. hospital on New Year’s Eve due to minor kidney failure.

His wife, Mariah Carey, posted a picture on her website with a message about how Nick was doing.

“We’re trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful,” she wrote. “They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C.”

Cannon’s friends are surprised to hear the news. They say he takes his health very seriously.

“I was beyond shocked when I learned Nick had a kidney issue,” DJ Irie, a close friend of Cannon, told People Magazine. “Of all the people, he is healthy beyond belief. He does not drink, he eats healthy, and he works out regularly.”

Since becoming sick, Cannon has been transported to a Los Angeles hospital for more treatment. Cannon took to Twitter to send a message to his fans.

“Currently being transferred to a hospital in LA,” he tweeted. “Thank you all for all your love, prayers and concern. You know me… I will be a’ight.”

He then posted a picture of himself receiving a haircut in his hospital room with the caption “getting back to business.”
