Norfolk State has earned the No. 15 seed in the West Region and will face No. 2 seed Missouri in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday March 16 in Omaha, Neb.

The game will be televised live on TNT and will tip-off at approximately 4:40 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. CT), or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Florida-Virginia game that tips off at 2:10 p.m. (1:10 p.m. CT).

NSU (25-9 overall record) won its first-ever Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship on March 10 with a 73-70 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Spartans are making their first-ever NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament appearance since moving up to Division I for the 1997-98 school year. The Spartans made 15 Division II Tournament appearances, with the last coming in 1995. That squad advanced to the D-II Final Four and won 27 games. This year’s team has won 25 games, most since that 1994-95 team.

The Tigers (30-4 overall record) won the Big 12 Tournament championship with a 90-75 win over Baylor on March 10.

“We’re excited to be playing Missouri in our first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance,” NSU head coach Anthony Evans said. “They represent a big challenge for us, but one we will embrace. We hope to represent NSU and the MEAC well.”
