A Northwest Washington, D.C., man on March 31 pleaded guilty to a charge of malicious disfigurement while armed, in connection with his violently attacking a woman with a knife Jan. 22 in Southeast D.C., according to the District’s U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Meguiel Jackson, 36, pled guilty in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to cutting a woman about 28 times inside her apartment building on the 4700 block of C Street SE.

According to authorities, on the night of the incident, the victim brought Jackson into her apartment and allowed him into her bedroom. Jackson wanted to read her text messages and turned angry when she refused. The alleged assailant then said something to the effect of, “I am tired of you…,” and launched his attack. She lost consciousness, and while she was insensible he took a knife and slashed all over her body, including her face, chest, back, buttocks and legs. Some of her wounds were deep enough to expose tissue. The knife broke during the assault, and Jackson eventually exited the building.

Later it was determined that the victim also sustained a broken jaw and orbital bone in her face. The severe injuries left the victim permanently disfigured.

Jackson was arrested Jan. 30 and has been in custody since then.

The plea, which is contingent on the court’s approval, calls for a 12-year prison sentence. Judge José M. López scheduled sentencing for June 3.
