Oprah Winfrey recently made her first public comment about the Kitty Kelly book about her life at a New York event, Blackamericaweb.com reported.

Winfrey spoke on April 19 at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards, where she presented an award to her longtime friend, Gayle King. Winfrey told the audience that the week prior โ€œwas a rough oneโ€ for Gayle when a โ€œso-called biography came out.โ€

โ€œGayle got herself worked up with all my new daddies coming out,โ€ said Winfrey of Kellyโ€™s book that claims Vernon Winfrey is not her biological father.

The talk show iconโ€™s life has recently become the focus of much scrutiny due to the new Kitty Kelley tell-all book that claims to reveal the true identity of her father. The biography also accuses Winfrey of abusing drugs and lying about being sexually abused as a child.

Prior to presenting the award, Winfrey thanked King for teaching her โ€œwhat true love really is.โ€ She also described King as โ€œher best friend who always wants the best for me.โ€
